What is Email Summary AI?

Email Summary AI is a Chrome extension that adds a sidebar panel to Gmail, Outlook and any webmail. It reads the visible content of email threads and uses the Anthropic API to generate instant summaries, detect pending action items, and analyze the tone of the conversation.

Data we collect

Email Summary AI does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. Specifically:

• We do not collect your name, email address, or any identifying information.
• We do not store the content of any emails you read.
• We do not log or retain any email thread content after the session ends.
• We do not use analytics or tracking tools of any kind.

Email content processing

When you click "Summarize this email", the extension reads the visible text of the current email thread. This text is sent directly from your browser to the Anthropic API using your API key. It is never routed through our servers.

No email content is stored after the summary is generated. Each summary is generated fresh and discarded when you close the tab or navigate away.

Your Anthropic API Key

To use the extension, you must provide your own Anthropic API key. This key is:

• Stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API.
• Never sent to our servers — only used to make direct requests to the Anthropic API.
• Never shared with any third party other than Anthropic.

You can delete your API key at any time by removing the extension or clearing its local storage.

How the extension works

When you click the ✉ AI button, the extension:

• Reads the visible text of the current email thread from the page.
• Sends that text directly to the Anthropic API using your API key.
• Displays the summary, action items and tone analysis in the sidebar.

No data is stored after the session ends. No data passes through our servers at any point.

Third-party services

The extension communicates with the Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com) to generate email summaries. Your use of the Anthropic API is subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

We have no affiliation with Gmail, Outlook or any other email provider. The extension simply reads publicly visible page content within your browser session.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
